What To Do After Teeth Whitening?

Great, you've just had your teeth whitened here with us at Circle Dental! So you may be wondering, how long will the effects of the teeth whitening last? 

The answer is not clear cut and largely varies from person to person. The effects may last from just a couple of months to a couple of years. There are many factors that can affect the longevity of the effects, which are mainly your dietary and oral hygiene habits.


These are several aftercare instructions that you MUST follow for 24 hours post treatment to ensure its effectiveness:

No staining foods

Avoid consuming staining foods like curry, fruits, berries, tomato or chilli sauces, candies, chocolate, soy sauce, and red meat.

No staining drinks

Avoid consuming staining drinks like coffee, tea, red wine, fruit juices and soft drinks.


No colored mouthwash

Avoid any mouthwash and colored toothpastes.


No smoking

No smoking.

White rice

Consume foods that are light-colored and non-acidic, such as, white rice, tofu, white yoghurt, egg whites, white fish, and cauliflower.

Milk

Consume drinks that are light-colored and non-acidic, such as, water, sparkling water, white milk, and clear coconut water.

To prolong the effects of the teeth whitening, here are several practices that you can follow:

No staining foods

Avoid consuming staining foods and drinks (pro-tip: Google up foods and drinks that stain your teeth and avoid them).

No smoking

Avoid smoking. Tar and nicotine stain your teeth!

Straw

If you are to consume any staining drinks, use a straw and do not let the drink linger in your mouth.

Gargle

Gargle with plain water after eating or drinking and brush your teeth 30 minutes after meals.

Clean

Take good care of your oral hygiene. Floss your teeth after every meal and brush your teeth at least twice a day.

Check up

Drop by for a visit every 6 months for a routine check up and also a scaling and polishing.
