What To Do After Wisdom Tooth Surgery?
What You Should (Or Should Not) Do After a Wisdom Tooth Surgery
After your wisdom tooth surgery, there are several precautions to take that will greatly help with your recovery. Besides the normal do's and don'ts of a normal tooth extraction which MUST also be practiced, a wisdom tooth surgery will require the patient to take these extra steps.
Place an ice pack or Kool Fever patch on the cheek of the same side of the tooth extraction. This can help to reduce the swelling.
Eat soft foods which are cold or room temperature. Mashed potatoes, porridge, smoothies and ice cream should be your staple food for a few days.
Hot foods and drinks are not allowed for a few days.
Do not worry if the thread comes off during healing.
Mild bleeding is normal for a couple of days after the surgery.
The swelling and pain may last up to a week after the surgery.
